Enjoy Salem Ancestry Days with this free in-person presentation!

Join genealogist Stephen Hartwell on a voyage of discovery as he unearths fascinating records about the seafaring men of Essex County in the 19th century. He will use his own Hartwell seamen as examples, one who became a sea captain and one who committed mutiny!

You will learn about the local repositories and techniques used to research the lives of early mariners of the Salem area, which you can use to find out more about your own ancestors.

Presenter Bio:

Stephen Hartwell is a professional genealogist who works with people to discover the stories of their ancestors, as well as create family history books and/or websites to showcase them. He especially enjoys helping those just starting out on their genealogical journey.

Stephen is a graduate of the Boston University Genealogical Research Certificate Program, an officer of the Essex Society of Genealogists and a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists. More information can be found on his website at https://shartwell.com.
